Why is there a fee?

Hedera Consensus Service charges approximately $0.0001 per message. The $0.05 fee covers the HCS transaction cost plus infrastructure, indexing, API hosting, and ongoing development of the H-Seal service. Payment is handled via the x402 protocol at the time of anchoring.
